Edna Mae (Kelly) Tuschak, 94, of New Kensington and Naples, FL, died Wednesday, November 1, 2023, on All Saints’ Day.
Born January 4, 1929, in Pittsburgh, to the late Arthur J. and Josephine (Petrosky) Kelly, Edna Mae graduated from Ken-Hi in 1946.
Edna Mae worked as an Office Manager at Westmoreland County Data Center. She served on the Board of Trustees for the Westmoreland County Community College. Edna Mae had a keen interest for politics. She served as a Democratic Committee Woman in New Kensington and also as a State Democratic Committee Woman. She also attended two Democratic Presidential Conventions as an alternate and a delegate and was a member of the League of Women Voters.
She was a lifelong member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church of New Kensington. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, playing cards, and like a true Pittsburgher, cheering on the Steelers and Penguins.
Edna Mae spent most winters in Naples, FL as a “snowbird” and enjoyed swimming in the pool and having a margarita on the lanai. She was the “Queen of Winterpark” and will be missed by her friends.
Her family will always remember her famous breaded pork chops and blueberry pancakes. Her favorite meal was spaghetti and meatballs, with the requirement that it was piping hot. She kept Dairy Queen® in business with her love for a Dilly Bar® in the evening.
She was overjoyed to be alive to see the births of her great-grandchildren. She had the most wonderful neighbors who were always there if she needed them.
A special thank you to her primary care physician, Dr. X. Helen Wang and the compassionate doctors and nurses at Forbes Regional Hospital who cared for her in her final days.
Surviving are her children, Frank J. (Kim) Tuschak Jr., of Dillsburg, Mary Ann Whalen, of Forty Fort, and Susan Burer (Jim Aungst), of Leeper; two grandchildren, Kate (Neal) Martin and Joe Kelly (Emily) Tuschak; three great-grandchildren, Cooper, Quinn and Brooks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Frank J. Tuschak; a daughter in infancy, Lorraine Tuschak; and brothers Richard and Leonard.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 8 in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.
