E. Denise (Simonette) Shean

E. Denise Shean, 66, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

She was born February 2, 1958 in Buffalo, NY to the late Peter & Mary Thomas Simonette, and was a 1976 graduate of Burrell High School, and a 1980 graduate of Duquesne University, with a Bachelor of Science in English.  She also received an Associate Degree from Oakbridge Academy of Arts in Visual Design.  

Denise was last employed by the publication, “Our Sunday Visitor.”  She was formerly the Advertising Designer and Editorial Graphic Designer at the Valley News Dispatch.  She also was the Editorial Graphic Designer at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and the former Graphic Designer at Pittsburgh Catholic News. 

She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of New Kensington where she loved being in their choir, and also enjoyed photography, reading, chocolate cake and all her friends.  

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Dennis E. Shean, Esq.; brother-in-law Steve (Sharon) Shean, sister-in-law, Mary C. Shean, all of New Kensington; best friend forever, Kathy Olean; and multiple nieces and nephew, cousins, friends and co-workers.  

Viewing will be on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where prayers of transfer will be held Monday, July 15, at 9:30am followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10am in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 1125 Leishman Avenue, New Kensington.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Lower Burrell.
