Dorothy Mae Beacom

Dorothy Mae Beacom, 96, of Allegheny Township, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023.

She was born March 25, 1926, in Whitney, Westmoreland County, 
to the late John and Mary (Smith) Huffman, and was an Allegheny Township resident since 1962.

She was a member of Christ’s Lutheran Church in Murrysville for 75 years, sang in the church choir for over 50 years and was a member of their bowling league.  She also belonged to several card clubs. Her biggest joy in life was taking care of her family.  She loved animals, especially dogs, and she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. 

Survivors include her daughter Deborah E. (Dallas) Vandevort of Cranberry Township; and several cherished nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Homer Leonard Beacom, son Leonard J. “Lenny” Beacom, brother Wayne Huffman, and two sisters that died in childhood. 

Viewing will be on Monday February 27, from 4-7 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  A service will be held in Christ’s Lutheran Church, 5330 Logan Ferry Rd, Murrysville, PA 15668 on Tuesday at 11AM.  Anyone attending the service is asked to go directly to the church.  Private burial will be in Hankey Church Cemetery.
