Donna Jean (Volpe) Rice

Donna Jean (Volpe) Rice, 70, of New Kensington died comfortably at her home on the early morning of Monday, December 13, 2021 with her beloved husband Robert right by her side. She was born May 20, 1951 in Sharpsburg to the late Andrew and Elva (Myers) Volpe.

Donna was Verona High School Graduate, class of 1969, and was a steadfast dedicated employee for the former Bell Telephone, now Verizon. She served for 30 years as a Service Representative Specialist before retiring in 2001, and never missed a beat with her fellow Verizon employees and retirees attending monthly luncheons, which she anticipated and dearly loved. She was always ready for adventure and travel making lifelong and everlasting memories with her family on yearly vacations, was the family chef and culinary artist putting on the most delectable spreads for all family parties, and “the queen of crossword puzzles.”  Donna fiercely and courageously battled cancer for the past five years, and deeply appreciated all the dedicated wonderful staff at the AVH outpatient chemical oncology department who were of great comfort to her during her fight.  She embodied the essence of a champion, never faltering in her faith while continuing to lead without fear. Donna dedicated her life to helping those she cared for and will be forever be remembered for her kind heart and soft spirit that will continue to lead and guide us every day of our lives.

Her daily presence will be most missed by her surviving husband of 45 years, Robert Rice; nephews, Robert Schreckengost and Michael Register; grandnephew, Collin Schreckengost and grandniece, Haylee Schreckengost.

In addition to her parents, she will be welcomed in her next phase by her sister, Sandra Schreckengost and Grandnephew, Logan Schreckengost.
