Donna Smith Obituary

Donna Marie Duffey Smith, 76, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Brackenridge on January 10, 1949 to the late James and Betty Brooks Duffey, and was a 1966 graduate of Har-Brack High School.  She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Penn State, where she was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha.  

Mrs. Smith was a Project Manager for Miles Laboratory (later Bayer Pharmaceuticals), South Bend, Indiana, for 21 years, retiring in 1995, when she and husband, Melvyn E. Smith, returned to New Kensington after being in South Bend for over 20 years. 

She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Brackenridge for much of her life.  She enjoyed shopping, and especially spending time with her family.  

Besides her husband Melvyn E. Smith, she is survived by her daughter, Tracy D. (Manuel) Smith-Regus; step-daughter, Karmen (Sonia Lewis) Jarvis; three grandchildren, Logan, Manuel and Marco; her siblings, Denise Frazier and Earl Duffey; and special nephew Chad Duffey, as well as three nieces.  

Viewing will be Sunday, February 9, from 2-5PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  A funeral service will be held Monday, February 10 at 11AM in Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 1150 Asa W. Roberts Way (formerly Fourth Avenue), New Kensington.  Anyone attending the service is asked to go directly to the church.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
