Daniel “Sly” Maloney, 55, of Lower Burrell died on Tuesday Dec. 21, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford. He was born in New Kensington on Aug. 14, 1966 to Shirley Maloney and the late David C. Maloney.
Daniel was a Plum High school graduate class of 1984. A steadfast hard worker, Sly served as a laborer operating in heavy construction for Local 1058. He was the great outdoorsman, avid hunter, skilled fisherman, casting his reel in Erie aboard the Amazing Grace Charter, and finishing out his adventures for the day by throwing back a Strohs brew at his camp in Sigel. He continued his love for the outdoors at home cultivating gardens with his best canine companion by his side, his beloved dog, Chloe. Above all Daniel’s greatest role was teaching, guiding, and making forever lasting memories with his cherished children and grandchildren. His daily presence will be missed most by his surviving wife of 37 years, Elizabeth (Rudolph) Maloney; precious children, Lynea Maloney, Derek (Katherine) Maloney, Stacey (Mat) Maloney-Hamilton, and Dustin Maloney; adored grandchildren, Avery, Amelia, Jaxton, and Kilian. and brother, David (Linda) Maloney Jr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son in childhood, Daniel Maloney Jr.; and aunt, Charmaine Maloney.
Viewings will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM & 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021 at Ross G. Walker Funeral Home Ltd., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 27 at 10 AM with burial and white dove release at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
