Daniel Xavier Long, DDS

Dr. Daniel X. Long, DDS, 95, of Centerville, Crawford County, and formerly of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

He was born March 23. 1930 in New Kensington, to the late Dr. Glenn & Margaret Kuhns Long, and was a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy, Grove City College and the University of Pittsburgh Dental School.

He proudly served with the United States Navy for several years after the Korean Conflict, retiring as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. 

Dr. Long practiced dentistry in New Kensington from 1955-1986, when he retired and moved to his farm in Troy Township, Crawford County.  Bored with retirement, he set up a dental practice in Titusville in 1987 and retired again in 1997.  He was over a 70 year member of Tyrian Lodge #644, Free & Accepted Masons of New Kensington. 

Surviving are his children, Daniel G. Long, Joel K. (Kathleen) Long, Alyssa S. (Robert C.) Kadyk, Lauren A. Long and Germaine L. (Sean) Findlay; grandchildren, Glenn (Jamie) Long, Daniel (Hailey) Long, Lori (Robert) Ayers-Lang, Peyton Kadyk, Ryan Kadyk, Ian Findlay, Eliza Findlay; great-grandchildren, Evan Long, Kira Long, Daniel Long, Brittany Ayers, Bailey Ayers, and Brandon Ayers; and great-great grandson Stetson Ayers Bombalski.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Kurpakus Long in 2018; and his brother Nicholas Long. 

Viewing will be Thursday, July 31, from 9am until services at 11am in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  Military honors will be conferred immediately after the service at the funeral home by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.  Private entombment will be in Greenwood Mausoleum, Lower Burrell.
