Cheryl Lynn King, 77, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
She was born in New Kensington on July 2, 1948, to the late Howard & Dorothy Mobley Wray, was a 1966 graduate of Ken-Hi and received a Registered Nurse Certification from Citizens General Hospital School of Nursing in New Kensington. She was employed by the hospital for 25 years on 4D Nurses Station.
Cheryl was a member of the Independent Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks of the World, Chapter 294, and was a Daughter of the Elks, Ken-Ton-Ion Temple 631, both of New Kensington.
She loved her work at the hospital, enjoyed cooking for friends and family, and always volunteered to help whoever needed it in any way possible. She enjoyed decorating her home and others, and creating beautiful venues for people and events.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Thomas H. King Sr.; children, Thomas H. (Marley) King, Jr., Deirdra T. King, and Tyffanie L. King; grandchildren, Austen, Tevin, Jorden, Rainlyn, Romen, Daviar, Treazure, Jerico, D’Aundre (Morgan), Adonis, Darius and Shane; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Howard Wray III and Marcella Price; and her only niece Marla (Ronald) Copeland.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, July 7, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, at 11AM in Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 1150 Asa W. Roberts Way (formerly Fourth Avenue), New Kensington. Anyone attending the service please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
