Cassandra "Cassie" (Sams) Black

Cassandra “Cassie” Black, 79, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

She was born December 12, 1945 in New Kensington to the late Kye & Virginia Kalish Sams, was a 1963 graduate of Ken-Hi, and attended CMU in PIttsburgh.

A caring and loving person, she most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved online shopping and watching cooking and game shows, cooking in the kitchen with her family and friends, celebrating holidays and having all of her family close by, loved her Pittsburgh Steelers, solving crossword puzzles, reading books, loved a good steak with seafood, loved sitting on her back porch during the summer months, enjoying the beautiful weather, loved zipping around in her Toyota Matrix, and celebrating birthdays and entertaining guests.

Cassie never was upset or showed anger towards anyone, her personality and loving way would light up a room, she was so sensitive and sweet and would cry at the drop of a hat
Would always say, “no matter what you do, just make sure you are happy, that is all that counts.”

She was truly ADORED by her four sons, Bryan, Spanky, Matt and Nick and her dogs, Muggsy, Jasemine and Red, and was preceded in death by her husband Barry Black.

Surviving are her loving sons, Bryan (Rebecca) Black, Spanky (Keli) Black, Matthew Black, and Nicholas (Vanessa) Black Sr.; adored grandchildren, Jada (Malcolm Harris), Bella (Nyjewel Carter), Mason, Madison, Sidnie, Kayla, Brylee, Nicholas II, and Kaia; and cherished great-grandchildren, Malcolm Jr. and Milani.

Nana you will be missed by many…. May you rest in eternal piece… love always…

Viewing will be on Monday, March 10, from 9 AM until services at 11 AM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  Private burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
