With love, remembrance and a heavy heart we share the passing of Carolyn Q. Resek. She entered the glory of Heaven on Monday, August 4, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New Kensington on February 9, 1938, to the late William & Thelma Steele Quigley, and was a 1956 graduate of Ken-Hi.
She worked for ALCOA and the J.C. Penney call center, and was a New Kensington resident her entire life. Carolyn “DeeDee” or “MeeMee” as she was lovingly known by close friends and family, enjoyed watching and cheering on all her Pittsburgh teams, the Pens, Pirates and Steelers. She enjoyed doing her crossword puzzles, jamming out to good music, “putz-ing” around in the yard, feeding her birds and squirrels, tending to her flowers, and decorating her home and garden. Carolyn deeply loved to be with her family. She cherished talks with her sister and high school friends and reminiscing about the “good ol’ days.” She loved yearly camping trips and vacationing at Geneva on the Lake, Ohio, where she enjoyed shopping trips on the strip, indulging in Eddie's Grill and Madsen Donuts, and nights laughing around the campfire. Whether she was relaxing at home or out and about, Carolyn always rocked a unique style that blended comfort and fashion in a way only she could pull off. Of course, Carolyn’s look wasn’t complete without multiple rings on each finger and beautiful bracelets layered up and down both her arms. She always looked forward to getting together with her cousins in Punxsutawney for the family reunion to figure out "What was going on.” She was funny, witty, and never missed a beat. This can be attributed to her desire for keeping up with local and worldly news and how much she enjoyed watching Celebrity talk shows to stay up to date on all the latest juicy gossip. Carolyn loved her daughters and the close bond they all shared. She especially treasured all the time spent together for holidays, parties, and get-togethers because nothing was more important to her than being together and close with her loved ones. Above all she adored what we all called "MeeMee time.” The time spent rocking, humming, singing, playing silly games, or talking to all her very special grandkids and great-grandsons. All of whom will love and miss her so.
She leaves behind a legacy for the importance of family, love, laughter and many cherished memories. We will hold on to those memories until we meet again.
Surviving are her daughters, Erin Beattie and Mallory (George Carter) Resek both of New Kensington; sister Kathleen (Fred) Quigley-Linderman of New Kensington; grandchildren, Brooke (Dennis) Robertson of Arnold, William & Shane Beattie, both of New Kensington, Wyatt (Nicole) Carter, of Pittsburgh, and Katrina (Aaron Ostrom) Carter of Port St. Lucie, FL; two great-grandsons, Cade and Nolan Robertson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death and now reunited with her parents whom she loved and adored, a very special son-in-law, Daren A. Beattie, and a grandson in infancy, Levi J. Beattie.
Private viewing and services were held in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., of New Kensington.
