Bruce Baumann Obituary

Bruce E. Baumann, 85, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 18, 1939 in New Kensington to the late August Earl & Charlotte Imm Baumann, was a 1957 graduate of Ken-Hi, and took courses at the University of Pittsburgh for several years.  He then served in the United States Army at the  inception of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Baumann retired as Vice-President of R. I. Lampus (Concrete) Company in Springdale.

Bruce was a lifetime member of the the American Legion Post 868 and the VFW Post 92, both of Lower Burrell, and the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks.

He had a true love for woodworking, antique furniture restoration and making scale models of the famous lighthouses in the United States.  He enjoyed restoring old wooden boats to their former splendor and resold them, and truly enjoyed traveling to Lake Chautauqua in New York State, where he spent many summers in his youth.  His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving him are his wife of 61 years, Jeannie F. Yeager Baumann; three daughters, Kelli (Scott Beattie) Baumann of New Kensington, Kristen (Chris) DeRose of Peters Township, Washington County and Kati (Andy) Virostek of Murrysville; and four grandchildren, Emma “Wubba,” Aaron “Double A,” Miki and Jacob.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marcia Cooper.

Private viewing and services followed by Military Honors accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard, were held in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.  Arrangements were under the auspices of ROSS G. WALKER of New Kensington.  Those desiring may contribute to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 T2T.org or Animal Protectors of the Allegheny Valley, 730 Church Street, New Kensington, PA 15068.
