Bernard "Barney" Atkinson

Bernard “Barney” Atkinson, 53, of Lower Burrell, passed away on June 13, 2021. He was born November 05, 1967 in New Kensington, to Myra R. Atkinson and the late Jack R. Atkinson Sr.

Barney was a graduate of Burrell High School Class of 1985. He enjoyed supporting local musicians by frequently attending live concerts with his love, Amy. He also found joy in helping others, spending time outside tending to his pond, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.  He loved all animals, including his dogs, rabbits, and chickens. Barney was an excellent artist, DJ, and drummer and even played in a few bands in the area.

He is survived by his mother, Myra R. Atkinson; brothers, Michael Atkinson and Jack Atkinson Jr.; the love of his life and companion of 11 years, Amy Zaboski; stepchildren, Danielle McCutcheon, Kendra Fouse, Shawna (Warren) Council, and Bradley McCutcheon; and grandchildren, Dylan, Kayden, and Warren Jr.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Thursday, June 17, 2021 in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 18 at Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Anyone attending the Mass is asked to go directly to church.
