Barbara Williams Obituary

Barbara Louise Williams entered the waiting arms of her Savior and Lord on Sunday June 3 2018, surrounded by loving family. She was 86 years young! She had a youthful and vibrant spirit! Barbara received Jesus as her lord and savior while attending a Christian retreat in 1993. She was a member of Caanan Church under the leadership of Pastor Ronald White and Elder Connie White. Barbara loved hearing a powerfully preached message and would often wave her hand of encouragement and life, and nod her supportive yes towards the preacher. She enjoyed a good gospel choir doing the songs of praise and worship. Barbara was a resident of New Kensington all of her life. She was educated in the New Kensington school system and graduated from New Kensington high school. Barbara worked in the accounting department at PPG industries in Springdale. She loved her job. Barbara loved to play bingo and loved to “binge watch” crime shows such as C.S.I. and  Law and Order. She was a big fan of the movies Alien and Predator, and watched them every time they came on. Barbara was an avid walker and would rarely accept rides to or from her destination. She proudly told people that she was the “walking woman”. She was affectionately called Barb, Barbie, Aunt Barb and Aunt B.B. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Gerald Williams; two sisters, Pamela Martin and Garnet (Joe) Booker; a step daughter, Diane Bassett; and two step sons, Bruce and Charles Bassett. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Raymond, her mother Nancy Long and father James Long. She will be lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.Viewing will be on Thursday, from 4-8 PM in  ROSS G.
