Avanell Smith Obituary

Avanell V. Smith, 90, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully Friday, March 15, 2024.

She was born October 8, 1933 in Kylertown (Clearfield County) to the late William & Sarah Simcox Whitton.

Mrs. Smith was a volunteer for St. George Orthodox Church Food Bank for 14 years, and the Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church Food Bank, both in New Kensington. She enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, crocheting and jig-saw puzzles.

Surviving are her four children, Gary L. (Joy) Smith, Gloria J. (Don) Isaac, Karen A. Johnson and Joan E. Smith; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Smith, granddaughter, Stacy Johnson; brother Thomas Whitton, and sister, Betty Krollman.

Private viewing and services by Rev. Dean Ward, were held in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., with entombment in Greenwood Memorial Park.
