A 1969 graduate of Burrell High School, Richard served as a Lower Burrell police officer from 1978, retiring in 2005 as Detective Lieutenant after his diagnosis. In addition to spending time with his family and grandchildren, Richard enjoyed working on home improvement projects, boating at Logan’s Ferry, watching Steelers games, playing cards, traveling, cooking, feeding his fish, and watching true crime shows, as well as America’s Funniest Videos. He will be remembered for his strength, love, smile, wisdom, and always putting others before himself, even through his own struggles. He was a member of FOP Lodge 39.

Surviving is his wife of 38 years, Harriet Anne (Rhoades) Ogurchock; daughter, Pamela Sue (Daniel) Harris of Peters Twp.; son, Michael Phillip (Jolene) Ogurchock of Upper Burrell; grandsons, Rocko Charles and Kyle Benjamin Harris; granddaughter, Ellie Jo Ogurchock; mother-in-law, Regina Rhoades of New Kensington, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Loretta Gazda of Plum and Alberta Echon of Lower Burrell.
