Olga A Cernicky

Olga A. Cernicky, 95, of Arnold, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2017. She was born October 17, 1921 in Russellton, to the late Joseph & Bessie Tutka, and was an Arnold resident the past 70 years. Mrs. Cernicky was a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church of New Kensington.  She was a homemaker most of her life, and was also a card stocker for the American Greeting Card Company, out of the New Kensington K-mart. An active gymnast most of her life, she held offices in the Fraternal Slovak Gymnastic Union (SOKOL) Club, and also enjoyed bowling and golfing, playing cards and Scrabble.  She was known as the best pizzele maker in the valley, and also was known for her famous potato salad. Survivors include her children, Gerald (Patty) Cernicky of Wexford, Ronald Cernicky of Lower Burrell, Christine (Richard) Robson of Sarver, Mary (Chris) McKallip and Pamela Cernicky, both of Arnold; five grandchildren Keith (Lisa) Cowen of Indiana, Brandon (Kristen) Cernicky of Sarver, Brian (Katie) Cernicky of McDonald, Amy (Todd) Klem of Florida and Michael Cernicky of California; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Melvin Cernicky who died in 2012; brother, Rudy Tutka; and sister, Helen Cameron. Friends are invited to a funeral Mass on Wednesday, June 21, at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of Czestoshowa Roman Catholic Church, 857 Kenneth Avenue, New Kensington.  Private burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, 533 Linden Avenue, New Kensington, in memory of Olga, will be appreciated.  To leave an online condolence visit www.rossgwalker.com.
