Kimberly Thrower Obituary

.

The family of Kimberly Thrower announces with great sorrow the unexpected passing of their forever loved one at her Lower Burrell home. Affectionally known as “Kim” to all who knew her, she was called from labor to reward on February 23, 2018, but her radiant smile, kindness, and creativity continues to shine brilliantly. Kim’s voice was authentic and her touch was sincere. Kimberly Thrower was born on March 1, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York to Miriam Thrower and Thomas Gambino and resided in the New Kensington area for most of her life. Kim Thrower was a member of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of New Kensington. She graduated from Burrell High School in 1981 and satisfied her exceptional aptitude for business with a degree from Bradford Business School. Immediately following her higher education, Kim served a number of national corporations in management and administrative roles including her most recent position as an Executive Assistant in the Insurances Services Division at UPMC. Kim’s dedication to the arts, creating, sewing, and crafting was much more than a hobby, it was her passion. She approached each event from weddings to theme parties with an original and unique flair. Kim’s charismatic personality led to her success as an entrepreneur and the launching of a well-known local event planning business called YOURINVITED2. With her calm and loving hand of direction, she breathed life into each and every event. There was nothing more meaningful to Kim than her family. She loved them fiercely and without hesitation. You could feel her sincerity and strength when she talked about her family. You could sense Kim’s joy at every opportunity to join a family vacation, organize a family reunion, or plan a family holiday meal. She loved her family hard and kept them close. Family was not just important to Kim, family meant everything to her.  Kim is survived by her loving partner for over 30 years, Chip Harris and their daughter, Cindy (Steve) Chaulis, grandchildren Kellen and Maia Chaulis of Jeannette, PA, sisters and brothers, Kevin Thrower of Pittsburgh, PA, Yvonne Thrower of Temple Hills, MD, Kristen Thrower of Lower Burrell, PA, and Keith (Jonnie) Thrower of Vacaville, CA, aunt, Jenifer Mason of New Kensington, PA, niece, Tameka (Reggie) Cooper of Washington DC, nephew, Savaughn Cooper of Washington DC, cousins, Corey Thrower of New Kensington, PA, Rae Mason of New Kensington, Pa, Vikki (Art) Brown of Johnstown, PA and Ross Pryor of Washington, PA, and a host of cousins and friends. Kim is preceded in death by her parents, Miriam Jarnagin and Thomas Gambino, step-father, Horace Jarnagin III, grandparents, Henry and Bernice Thrower, aunts, Karen Thrower and Trudy Pryor Carvin, uncle, John Mason, niece, Kourtney Thrower, and cousin, JB Mason II. Friends will be received from 4-8 on Wednesday, February 28 at the Ross G. Walker Funeral Home LTD, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, 724 335-1234. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, March 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Asa W. Roberts Way (formerly known as 1150 Fourth Avenue) New Kensington. Rev.
