Jennie Ameris

Jennie Ameris, 90, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family,  on Monday, July 31, 2017. She was born in Jeannette on June 24, 1927 to the late Philip and Mary Pandolph, and was a New Kensington resident most of her life. Jennie was an avid cook, and owned two restaurants in New Kensington; The Golden Rule and Jennie and Sons.  Some of her favorite dishes were rice pudding, pasta, soups and pies. Mrs. Ameris is survived by her children, Albert (Peggy) Dent, James “Lutzo” Ameris, and Philip (Jeanne) Ameris; and daughter-in-law, Marian Coury; six grandchildren, Sandy (Jeff) Shaw, Gina (Frank) Burkett, Philip (Hillary) Ameris Jr., Jimmy (Marissa) Ameris, Lauren (Gino) Lanzino and James Ameris; four great-grandchildren, Austin and Alec Shaw, Nico and Avery Ameris; and several nieces and nephews who she loved very much. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Ameris; and several siblings. Viewing will be Thursday from 2-5 & 6-9 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  A funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10AM in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Arnold.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Concordia Lutheran Ministries.
