James Kvortek, 75, of Logans Ferry Heights, Plum Borough, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017. He was born on September 8, 1942 in Logans Ferry to the late Charles & Catherine Podolinsky Kvortek, attended Sunrise School in Monroeville, and was a lifelong member of Logans Ferry. James was a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church in New Kensington and enjoyed listening to Polka music, Pirate Baseball and going to camp with his brothers and nephews. He especially loved Nascar racing and was a big fan of Jeff Gordon. Surviving are his sister, Joann C. Wayner; sisters-in-law, Helen and Joann Kvortek; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill and Charley, and an infant brother; and his brother-in-law who was instrumental in his care, Doug Wayner. Viewing will be on Tuesday from 4-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where prayers of transfer will be held Wednesday at 9:30 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am in St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church, 857 Kenneth Avenue, New Kensington. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Lower Burrell.
