Carol Anne Turney

Carol A. Turney, 78, of Lower Burrell passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2019.  She was born July 7, 1940, in Greensburg to the late George M. Sr. and Louise M. Lowman Turney.

Carol was a 1959 graduate of Ken-Hi and later attended Duff’s Business Institute. She worked as a secretary for several doctors in Shadyside Hospital for many years.  She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as their Past Worthy Matron. She was a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Bethesda Lutheran Church, where she also took part in the Church Choir, the Stitcher’s Club, and many other committees of the church.

Survivors include her sister, Arlene L. (Dale A.) Johnson; brother, George M. (Florence) Turney Jr.;five nieces and nephews, Carrie (James) Stello, Cami (George) Sandrey, Joy (Chris) Hartman, Joel Turney, and Adam Turney; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Bethesda Evangelical Lutheran Church, are welcomed.

A Viewing will be held Sunday, Jan. 6 from 6 to 8 PM, and Monday Jan. 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. The Order of the Eastern Star will hold a service at 7 PM on Sunday. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 10:00 AM at the Bethesda Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3084 Leechburg Rd, Lower Burrell. Anyone attending the service is asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
