Alice Sams, 104, of Arnold, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2018. She was born April 8, 1914 in Rural Ridge to the late Felix & Alexandra Wierzbicki Kuznicki and lived all of her life in the Alle-Kiski Valley. She was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and the Alle-Kiski Senior Citizens Center, both of New Kensington. She enjoyed knitting, playing cards and swimming. She was a waitress at the Busy Bee Restaurant, was a host at the Skyliner in New Kensington, both in New Kensington, was a clerk at Gaylord’s Department Store in Lower Burrell and was a cook for the nuns at St. Mary Church. Mrs. Sams was a member of the YMCA in New Kensington for over 40 years. Surviving are her son, William “Sonny” (Donna Vargo) Sams, Jr. of New Kensington and Norma “Babe” Sams of New York City; two grandchildren, Darren (Heather) Sams of Port Orange, FL and Darrick (Violet) Sams of Tampa, FL; five great-grandchildren Hayden, Barrett, Claire, Max and Mya; and sister-in-law Anne Kuznicki of Harmar Township. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Sams, Sr.; and her brother, William Kuznicki. Friends and family are invited to a funeral Mass on Friday, June 1, at 11AM in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington. ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., (successor to John F. Krupa Funeral Home) of New Kensington was entrusted with the arrangements.
