Alice Planavsky Obituary

Alice K. Planavsky, 93, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. She was born in New Kensington to the late Anthony &  Anna Kaczmarek Kedzierski, on January 22, 1925, was a lifelong New Kensington resident, and a graduated from Ken High. Alice was a telephone operator, supervisor and trainer for Bell Telephone, in New Kensington, during and after World War II.   She also worked at Tri-City Electric, her husband’s company, the late John J. Planavsky, who died in 1981. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church where she received all of her Sacraments, was married, and was a member of the Choir.  She also belonged to St. Mary Christian Mothers.  When her children were students at St. Mary School, she was a cafeteria volunteer. Surviving are her children, Tom Planavsky, Loretta Planavsky, Joseph (Kathy) Planavsky and Steve Planavsky; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her two brothers, twins, Joseph and Daniel Kedzierski. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Florian, Stanley, Edward, and Leon Kedzierski, and sister Clara, who died in infancy. Viewing will be Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD.(successor to John F. Krupa Funeral Home), 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where parting prayers will be held Friday at 9:30a followed by a funeral Mass at 10a in St. Mary Church, 857 Kenneth Avenue, New Kensington.  Rev. John Szczesny will officiate.  St. Mary Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary Thursday at 3p.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Lower  Burrell.
