Peter J. Mervosh

Peter J. Mervosh, 84, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2016.

He was born November 28, 1931 in Pittsburgh, to the late Peter & Virginia Acklin Mervosh, graduated from the Clarion State Teachers College and was an Army veteran in the 1950’s.

Mr. Mervosh was a Guidance Counselor for Penn Hills School District and Highlands High School.  He also was an admissions counselor for Clarion University.  A member of Alpha Gamma Phi, he was recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Volunteer Award from Clarion University. 

He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Tarentum, and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Glenna Rose Mervosh; children, Kristin (Edward) Melville of Orlando, FL and Peter (Dottie) Mervosh Jr. of Harrison City; grandchildren, Edward and Emily Melville, and Claire, Sean, Kate and Mike Mervosh; his sister, Christine (Mike) McBride; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Mervosh.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Mervosh.

Viewing will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 11 AM at the First United Presbyterian Church, 913 Lock Street, Tarentum.
