Nick Albert

Nick Albert, 98, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2017. He was born in New Kensington on May 6, 1918, to the late Michael & Catherine Kabazie Albert, graduated from Ken-Hi in 1937, and was an Army Veteran of WWII, and a New Kensington resident his entire life. Mr. Albert was a lifelong member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church of New Kensington and the Bazbina Society of the Church.  He served as an inspector for the Aluminum Company of America from 1940-1956, and was Mayor Gardlock’s secretary from 1956-1962.  Starting in 1962, he was the Assistant Budget Director and the head of the Voter’s Registration Office for Westmoreland County, at the Courthouse in Greensburg.  He retired in 1979, and afterwards served on the Board of Directors for the Municipal Water Authority of New Kensington. He is survived by nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Albert, and brothers, James, Henry Sr., Ernest, Elmer, and a brother who died in infancy, Abraham Albert. Viewing will be on Thursday, March 23 from 11 AM until services at 12 Noon in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  His pastor, Father Meletios Zafaran will conduct the service.  Private burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.  To leave an online condolence visit www.rossgwalker.com
