Marie J. Everhart

Marie J. Checkeye Everhart, 77, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2016,  with her children at her side. 

She was born April 29, 1939 in Indianola to the late Frank & Mary Grobelny Checkeye, and was a resident of New Kensington for 60 years.  She attended Ken-Hi.

Survivors include her children, Robin (Ralph) Hemphill of Allegheny Township, Michael Everhart of Pittsburgh and David (Christine) Everhart of Gilbert, AZ; four grandchildren, Courtney (Matthew) Dixon of Ross Township, Lindsey (Todd) Carneval of Allegheny Township, and Kayla and Samantha Everhart, both of Gilbert, AZ; and a brother Michael (Kikuyo) Checkeye of Lynnwood, WA.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Everhart, who died August 19, 2016; a half-sister Rita Abel; and two half-brothers, John and Frank Checkeye.

Marie had a long career at Bob Miller Shoes in New Kensington.  She enjoyed gardening and working in the yard, baking, spending time with her grandchildren, and was a longtime member of the Women of the Moose.  She also enjoyed her visits to the casino with her friends and family, and also spending time with her brother in Seattle.
