Mamie L. McDew

Mamie L. McDew, 84, of New Kensington, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017. She was born on June 19, 1933 in Eatonton, Georgia, a daughter of the late Lonnie Sr. & Mamie Davis Dennis, and was a New Kensington resident since 1953. Mrs. McDew was a school crossing guard, and a meter maid for the City of New Kensington for over 30 years.  She was a former member of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed buying instant lottery tickets. Surviving are her children, Jeanette (Jesse) Williams of Penn Hills, S. Jerome McDew Jr. of New Kensington, Henry McDew of Georgia, Gloria McDew of New Kensington and Dionne (Randy) Huskins of Georgia; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Helen Heath and Mary Alice Brown, both of Atlanta, GA, and Lonnie (Betty) Dennis Jr. of California (state); and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Simeon J. McDew Sr.; daughter Helen Marie McDew; and sister, Winnie Haynes. Viewing will be on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM by Rev.
