Lorenzo Z. Freeman

Lorenzo Z. Freeman, 52, of New Kensington, passed away on October 10, 2016, peacefully at home. 

He was born May 23, 1964 in Philadelphia, to the late Leslie and Floretta Poole Freeman, grew up in Camden, NJ and moved to Pittsburgh in 1982 when he started at the University of Pittsburgh. 

Lorenzo payed football for Pitt and was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 1987. He was a defensive tackle for five seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers and one season for the New York Giants. He was currently the football coach for Plum High School and also coached football at Valley High School, Sto-Rox, Mckeesport, West Shamokin and Deer Lakes High Schools. 

Surviving are his wife, Robin Pryor Freeman; son Justin Z. Freeman; and siblings, Leslie Freeman, Jr., Angela Poles Freeman, Adrienne, Clarence, John, Michael, Caralotta, Lester Freeman, Brenda Sutton Freeman and Barbara Freeman; and his mother-in-law, Anne Pryor. 

Viewing will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 AM in Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 1150 Asa W. Roberts Way (formerly Fourth Avenue), New Kensington. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
