Welcome to the memorial page for

Katherine Davis

September 14, 2017

Katherine Davis, 89, of New Kensington, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017. Mom means a lot of things and for her it meant family, love, and caring. Katherine possessed all of those qualities and were based on a never ending kindness. A small woman by stature, she was a dynamo in real life. As a young mother she embraced her three children, as well as their friends, with open arms. For her husband, Ervin, she was the true strength of the relationship. Katherine was always there for friends and family, and and as her children grew into adulthood she relished the role of grandmother. If you asked what made her life happy it was two words, “living life” which she did to the fullest. Her church, St George’s, was a mainstay throughout her life. She loved being in the center of activity for her friends and family as well as coordinating and planning events, and was an active member of the Myrrh Bearing Society there. Katherine didn’t believe in luck but did believe in creating opportunities for those close to her. Katherine was  happily married for over 60 years and was happy being the wife and mother of the family she adored. In the last few years of her life she experienced joy in doing things that she hadn’t had the chance to do before. She loved to travel. She always loved fashion and in the later stages of her life would spend time adding to her wardrobe, which always made her happy. Katherine fought off cancer and other afflictions in her later years and valued everyday as a new opportunity. She will always be remembered as “Sito” to those who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents John & Mary Albert George; and her beloved husband Ervin Thomas Davis. She leaves behind three children, Thomas, Laura, and Linda. Thomas’ fiancee Lisa Rodgers, his two sons Sean and Bryan ; Laura Norton and partner Steven Quade, Laura’s daughter Ashley and son in law Wesley Brown and their 3 children Scarlett, Tripton, and Pierce. She also leaves behind her brother George George, and her loving sister Regina Thomas and nieces and her nephews. Viewing will on Monday (September 18) from 7-9 PM in St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 1150 Leishman Avenue, New Kensington, where a Trisagion service will be held at 8:30 PM.  A funeral service will follow Tuesday at 11:00 AM, with her pastor, Rev. Meletios Zafaran, officiating.  Burial will be Greenwood Memorial Park.  Donations in her memory can be made to St. George Orthodox Christian Church, 1150 Leishman Avenue, New Kensington 15068.  ROSS G.
