John R Plasynski

John R. “Chick” Plasynski, 83, of Upper Burrell Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 24, 1934 in Arnold, to the late Joseph & Anna Szulinski Plasynski, and was a 1952 graduate of Arnold High School. He was a New Kensington resident most of his life, and an Upper Burrell resident since 1990. He was a police officer for the City of New Kensington for 32 years, retiring in 1990. John was a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church of New Kensington, and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #39. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Joan Johnston Plasynski; children, Lori (David) Madeja of Upper Burrell Township and Sean (Karen) Plasynski of Jefferson Hills; grandchildren, John (Nicole) Madeja & Jennifer Madeja, and Kyle, Devon, Julia and Alexa Plasynski; and many nieces and nephews.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Stanley Place, Ted, Joe and Ed Plasynski, George Pierce, and a brother Frank Plasynski, in infancy; Jenny Vaina, Irene Trzeciak, and Frances Palaika and Albina Zemanski; and step-sisters, Anna, Stella and Helen. Viewing will be on Monday, June 5, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where prayers of transfer will be held Tuesday June 6, at 9:30 AM followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Mary Church, 857 Kenneth Avenue, New Kensington. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Lower Burrell. The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #39 will meet in the funeral home Monday at 7:00 PM.
