Hildegarde Jenson

Hildegarde Jenson, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully in Illinois, on Friday, April 28, 2017. Born in New Kensington, to Clyde and Theresa Means, she graduated from New Kensington High School (Ken-Hi), and married Clarence “Piccolo” Jenson on January 24, 1943.  He passed away on January 29, 1975.   Hildegarde lived her entire life in New Kensington until she moved into a healthcare facility in Illinois to be near her son, 3 1/2 years ago. She was a former member of the Quota Club, the New Kensington Women’s Club where she served on the Executive Committee, belonged to the Citizens General  Hospital Auxiliary, was secretary of the Board of Directors of the Lutheran Youth and Family Services, a Trustee of Thiel College and member of their Student Activities Committee, Past President of the Thiel Women’s Club, was on the Stewardship and Financial Committees of the Western PA Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), and was a current member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Fox Chapel, where she served on the Council, was a Youth Advisor, was Chairperson of the Stewardship Committee, a greeter and communion assistant, President of the Congregation, Sunday School Teacher and Confirmation Class teacher.  Previously she belonged to Calvary Lutheran Church in Arnold, Bethesda Lutheran Church in Lower Burrell and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Springdale. She also enjoyed playing 500 with her card club in New Kensington. Survivors include her son, Dwight Jenson, daughter-in-law, Sandra; two grandchildren, Fay Jenson and Parker Jenson, all of Lake Barrington, Illinois; brother-in-law, George Mosley of Tucson, AZ; four nephews, Tom Means, Mark Mosley, Jeff Mosley and Jim Mosley; and her niece, Paula Carpenter. Viewing will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Friday, May 5, in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  A service will be held on Saturday, May 6, at 1 PM, in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1610 Powers Run Road, Pittsburgh 15238.  Anyone attending the service is asked to go directly to the church.  Burial will be in Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum Borough.  Those desiring may contribute to Lutherlyn, POB 355, Prospect, PA 16052 to support “Piccolo’s Trail” a trail established in memory of her husband, or  Glade Run Lutheran Services, 70 West Beaver Street, Zelienople, PA 16063.
