Gwendolyn Johnson

Gwendolyn Johnson departed this life suddenly Tuesday, June 20, 2017. She was born to Lucille Vining Johnson and William Richard Johnson, Sr. on  April 11, 1956 in New Kensington. She attended Upper Burrell Elementary School and Burrell Junior and Senior High Schools. She was employed at PPG industries from 1979 as a technician, until her retirement in 2010.  She enjoyed cooking and catered many affairs. She had a passion for guiding and counseling single mothers and provided a haven for them and their children. She had an undying love for people and their needs, her doors were always open, always making time for everyone, never turning anyone away. She was our beacon of light that shined bright. Gwendolyn was proceeded in death by her mother and father, five sisters and four brothers. She leaves in her passing her three sons, eight grandchildren, a brother, four sisters, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation to be held Wednesday 2-4 and  6-8 pm, at ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, PA.  A celebration of life will be held on Thursday at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church,1150 4th AVE, New Kensington, PA 15068. Family hour from 10-11 am. Celebration service at 11 am. Interment to follow services at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery. Repass immediately following, and will be announced.
