Grace M Ekas

Grace M. Ekas, 99, of Oakmont, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2017. She was born April 20, 1918 in Pittsburgh, to the late William J. & Anna M. Bittner Murray, and was a longtime Oakmont resident. Mrs. Ekas was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of New Kensington and retired from the Financial Aid Office at the University of Pittsburgh where she worked for 20 years. She enjoyed bowling, reading, and solving crossword puzzles, but most of all, spending time with her friends and family. Survivors include her daughters, Joan Anne Conte (husband Jack) and Jean Elizabeth Simmons; grandchildren, Julie Coffman (husband Richard), Joseph Conte (wife Kelly Hill) and Ian McGruder (wife Janel Lasko); great-grandchildren, Emma, Samuel and Skylar Conte, Jack Lattanzio, Parker Coffman, and Brayden, Devin and Gabriella McGruder; nephew William John Murray; and niece Susan Bright. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Paul Ekas in 1994; and siblings, John Cooper Murray, William John Murray and Eleanor Murray. Services and entombment in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum were private and entrusted to ROSS G.
