George Burkett Jr.

George Burkett, Jr., 79, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2017.He was born November 14, 1937, in Dubois, to the late George Sr. & Dorothy Harris Burkett, and was a laborer for Park’s Corporation of Homestead for over 20 years. Surviving is his wife Girtrue V. Heltion Burkett; children, Donald Burkett, George Burkett III, and Christina L. (David S.) Hawkins; grandchildren, Scott, Brandon, Tyler and Amber; great-grandchildren Daisy Rae and a yet to be named baby boy who will soon be born; and his sisters, Doris Mitchell, Barbara Fisher and Sandy Momberger. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers. Viewing will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road New Kensington, where a service will be held Friday at 10 AM.  Rev. Dean Ward, pastor of The River - A Community Church will officiate.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.  Those desiring may contribute to the American Cancer Society in Mr. Burkett’s memory.
