Florence P. Jacobus

Florence P. Jacobus, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully, on Monday, Dec. 5, 2016. She was gifted with 97 years of life. Florence was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 18, 1919, daughter of the late Amadee & Olivene Oluimette Surprenant. She was raised in Bedford, Mass., and was a graduate of New Bedford High School. Aside from her responsibilities of being a wife and mother, she was employed by Pennzoil, working in many of the local auto dealerships. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 65 years, Wilbur H. Jacobus. She is survived by a son Richard B. (Anne) Jacobus of New Kensington, and her granddaughters, Carrie E. and Courtney A., both of the Pittsburgh area. Also surviving is her sister Clare B. Hotte of Raleigh, NC. Florence was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of New Kensington and was a member of the Christian Mothers. Her family would like to thank the staff of Second Floor North at Amberwood Care Center, especially Shelly Cooper for making her life so pleasurable during her stay there. Viewing for family and friends will be 3-7 PM on Thursday (Dec. 8) in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where prayers of transfer will be held 9:30 AM on Friday (Dec 9) followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 1125 Leishman Avenue, New Kensington.
