Dorothy Mae Williams, age 98, of Plum Boro, passed peacefully on August 16, 2017 at Platinum Ridge Center for Rehabilitation and Healing in Brackenridge, PA. Dorothy was born on February 1, 1919 in Pittsburgh, PA, the third of seven children born to Samuel and Marie Harris. She died after a short battle with pneumonia. Her sisters Ruth Brown, Mary Jane Rose, and brothers, Joseph Harris, and Donald Harris preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh, PA. She met and married Daniel “Danny” Williams, lived in Homewood, PA, and then later moved to New Kensington, PA. Dorothy was an active member of the Fidelity Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a longtime member of the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School classes and served on the Usher Board. Even when she was not able to stand for long periods of time, she was stationed at the door distributing bulletins, and was recognized for her many years of outstanding service to the church. Family and friends were Dorothy’s passion. She delighted in entertaining and loved hosting card games with girlfriends, playing Bingo, and traveling. She helped raise several of her grandchildren, and was a devoted caregiver and companion to her daughter Letha, who had Down Syndrome, until Letha’s death. In her later years, she could be found occupying her position as family matriarch, holding court in good weather on her daughter, Diane’s front porch, talking with neighbors, extended family, and any passersby willing to engage in conversation. She spent countless hours people watching with her four-legged friend, Sassy, on her lap, and working Word Search and Find-A-Word puzzles. She is survived by a sister, Nancy Seals and a brother, Kenneth (Jessie) Harris, both of San Diego, CA, her sons Donald V. (Gwen) Harris of Murrysville, PA, DH “Hank” (Vicki) Williams of Beltsville, MD, and a daughter Diane Carter of Arnold, PA. Two other daughters, preceded her in death, Mary Harris-Brown, and Letha Williams. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 39 great-great grandchildren, along with a host of other loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 22, from 6-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM in Mt.
