Daren J. “Tubby” Rugh, 91, of New Kensington, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017, peacefully, at home. He was born June 2, 1926 in Grange, Jefferson County, to the late Blanchard & Effie Mae Smith Rugh. Mr. Rugh was a Navy veteran of WWII and was proud of his active duty time as a Frogman, now known as the Navy Seals.  He was an HVAC specialist and truck driver most of his working career.  A life member of the Seventh Street Sportsmans Club, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.  Most of all, he loved his late wife, and his family.  Surviving are two daughters, Vicky L. (Joseph) Hlinka of Zelienople and Diane S. Dzanaj of New Kensington; and seven grandchildren and 18 grandchildren, who he adored. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Donnalee Marie Hawk Rugh who died December 15, 2013; his daughter, Cynthia Brzozowski; his sister, Clara Belle Blose; and his brother Arthur Rugh, who died at the age of 13 months. A funeral service will be held in the Logan’s Ferry Presbyterian Church, 750 Church Street, New Kensington, on Thursday, January 4, at 11 AM.  Officiating will be Rev. Robert J. Henry, former pastor of the church.  Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard will accord military honors at the church, after the service.  ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., of New Kensington was entrusted with the arrangements.
